If you could have $1000 cash in your pocket in under 10 minutes, would you dive in? To a dumpster that is? In Zero Waste Melrose’s monthly series, What’s on our Bookshelf this Month?, we highlight books on the subjects of zero waste and sustainability.

In Finding your Treasure, Angel Williams has two of the guiding Rs, reuse and recycle, of zero waste as the subtitles of her book. Angel dives in – literally – to how she started dumpster diving and came up with treasures, from cash, to loaded gift cards, to clothes with tags still attached, and more. As a side business, rescuing serviceable and valuable items from being trashed and landfilled can be lucrative and fun. As a moral imperative, it can be good for us and the planet.
