On our Bookshelf this Month

July 2024

“What Happens at Repair Café Doesn’t Stay at Repair Café.” Well now…does that make you curious? You don’t have to travel far to find out! The repair café movement that started in the Netherlands has spread across the globe, including to Melrose. In Zero Waste Melrose’s monthly series, What’s on our Bookshelf this Month?, we highlight books on the subjects of zero waste and sustainability.

In Repair Revolution the authors stitch together and shine new light on – to channel mend-it mindset terms – data from history, economists, sociologists, and fix-perts in support of repairing rather than replacing. From sharing knowledge to building community and saving resources, the repair movement has much to offer beyond the café event itself.

We have our very own repair café and library of things champion in Melrose! Lend & Mend, taking its cue from the Dutch initiative, sponsors Repair Cafes right in Melrose and open to all.

Read on for inspiration to go from pitch-it to fix-it!

Available online through booksellers and Audible, as well as hoopla, which is accessible for free through the Melrose Public Library.
